3-Day Clearwater Beach (Florida) Itinerary: Sunsets, Riverwalks & Coastal Charm 🌴

by Amit

Clearwater Beach is a gem on Florida’s Gulf Coast, offering pristine beaches, vibrant sunsets, and a blend of relaxation and adventure. Here’s a 3-day itinerary to help you make the most of your visit. Get ready for some serious sunshine!

Day 1: Beach Bliss & Sunset Celebrations

Morning & Afternoon: Clearwater Beach

The sand is unbelievably soft and powdery, like walking on clouds! You can spend the morning and afternoon soaking up the Florida rays, taking refreshing dips in the Gulf’s gentle waves, and simply unwinding with a good book. You could easily spend the entire day just lounging here, and honestly, it is worth it.

Evening: Sunset at Pier 60 & Dinner

As the sun begins to set, head to Pier 60 for the nightly “Sunsets at Pier 60” festival, featuring local artisans, street performers, and live music. Everyone gathers with anticipation for the main event: the sunset. The sky explodes in a kaleidoscope of oranges, pinks, and purples, painting a breathtaking backdrop over the Gulf. It’s a truly magical experience.

To cap off the perfect day, stroll onto Pier 60 and enjoyed a delicious seafood dinner at one of the restaurants overlooking the water. The fresh catches of the day are always incredible, and the sound of the waves crashing below was the perfect soundtrack. Trust me, ending your first day here is a must-do!

Day 2: Tampa’s Riverwalk & Scenic Boat Ride

Morning: Tampa Riverwalk & Armature Works

Drive to Tampa to explore the vibrant Riverwalk (a 2.6-mile path along the Hillsborough River) and the trendy Armature Works. This beautifully developed waterfront area is a fantastic blend of history and modern life. Armature Works itself is a stunningly restored streetcar warehouse now housing a fantastic food hall with something to tempt every palate. You can grab a delicious lunch here and soak in the lively atmosphere.

Afternoon: Boat Ride

Hop on a boat tour along the Hillsborough River. It’s a fantastic way to see the city skyline from a different perspective, learn a bit about Tampa’s history, and simply enjoy being out on the water. There are various tour options available, from relaxing scenic cruises to more lively party boats. Choose your own adventure!

  • Pirate Water Taxi: A hop-on, hop-off service with stops along the Riverwalk, offering a unique perspective of the city.
  • Cruisin’ Tikis Tampa: Enjoy a 90-minute cruise on a floating tiki bar, perfect for groups looking for a fun and relaxed outing (Hillsborough River Tiki Bar Boat).

Day 3: Pedal Power in Clearwater & St. Pete Pier Sparkle

Morning: Bike Ride to Pier 60

Clearwater Beach is incredibly bike-friendly, and you can enjoy a leisurely morning cycle along the beachfront path, heading towards Pier 60. The morning hours offer cooler temperatures and fewer crowds, making it an ideal time for cycling. The early morning light on the water is also stunning on a sunny day, and it’s a refreshing way to take in the sights at a different pace.

Evening: Explore St. Pete Pier

A short drive from Clearwater, this newly revamped pier is a true gem. It’s not just a pier; it’s an entertainment hub with restaurants, shops, a splash pad, a museum, and incredible views of the St. Petersburg skyline and Tampa Bay.

You can spend the evening strolling along the pier, enjoying the lively atmosphere, and indulging in some delicious ice cream. Watching the sunset from St. Pete Pier offers a different but equally beautiful perspective compared to Clearwater. The city lights twinkling in the distance adds a touch of urban sparkle to the natural beauty.

  • Activities: Enjoy art installations, playgrounds, and panoramic views of Tampa Bay. The pier also offers fishing spots and occasional live entertainment.

Tips:

  • Transportation: Consider using the Clearwater Jolley Trolley for convenient travel around Clearwater Beach. It is offered as an amenity at many hotels in the area.  It’s a great way to enjoy fun ride while avoid stress of parking and fees, especially during peak season.
  • Reservations: For popular restaurants and boat tours, especially during peak seasons, it’s advisable to book in advance.

Enjoy your trip to Clearwater Beach, where every sunset brings a new memory!
